Picture this. Just 1 month ago it was 30 degrees and very, very humid. Most people were probably sat in a beer garden, feet in the paddling pool or sitting in front of a fan. Little did Lisa and Thomas know when they booked their wedding on the 21st June, they'd be battling through one of the UK's most intense heatwaves this summer!
Did it bother them though? Absolutely not.
From a very chill morning to a slight panic she was late, Lisa kept her cool getting ready at the newly renovated Voco by IHG. The bridal party tended to her every need, hair and makeup made everyone look absolutely fantastic (and this glamour lasted well into the night so if you're looking for hair and makeup artists Laura Lewis and Alicia Chuplis are your girls!
After a few tears from the father-of-the-bride and a much needed glass of Prosecco, we headed over to St Leonard's Church, Rockingham. I've never photographed here and I was impressed with just how beautiful the building is inside.
The character woven into the stone walls made for a beautiful ceremony, perfectly complementing the relaxed and loving nature of Lisa and Thomas. The children started the ceremony perfectly with a wonderful entrance, followed by the bridesmaids and then finally, Lisa in all her stunning glory! Thomas tried to hold in his emotions but there was definitely a watery eye at the alter!
After the ceremony, we took a few quiet minutes to capture the newly weds alone together. The couple portraits are some of my favourites from a wedding, especially when done right after the ceremony. It often gives the bride and groom a few moments together for the first time and captures those fresh emotions and in-love looks. Despite the humidity, Thomas and Lisa fully embraced the moment and looked absolutely flawless while doing so!
After spending some time outside St Leonard's, Rockingham, we drove up the the Grampian to be greeted by the guests for a magical evening of fun, laughter, dancing and a cold pint in the sun!
And that wasn't all. Lisa had secretly hired a pair of singing waiters to keep the guests entertained between courses. I obviously knew of the plan and was poised ready to photograph the "fall" of the waitress and the reactions of guests - making me out to be a terrible person for those who had no idea what was going on. But it's all in good faith and once the music started everyone absolutely loved the experience! Although baby Thomas may have found it all a little too much...
Ps. if you don't fancy a cake cutting, I highly recommend using Stand Out Events for a shot wall and taking the first shot together as husband and wife - makes for a great photo too!
